Speaker for the Dead

January 20, 2011 By Aaron Johnston

Speaker for the Dead is one of my all-time favorite books, so to have the chance to work on the comic adaptation for Marvel is like a dream. Speaker is one of those books that you read and think, “Dang! How did he ever think up THAT idea?” An amazing and expected sequel to Ender’s Game. It won the Huge and Nebula Award the year it was was released, making Scott Card the first person to ever win both the Hugo and Nebula twice in a row (He won both awards the previous year for ENDER’S GAME.).

In any event, I’m working with Jordan D. White, a genius and saint of an editor at Marvel. Incredibly smart and talented guy. The art is being drawn by Pop Mahn, who I was privileged to work with on ENDER IN EXILE. Amazing artist. Oozing with talent. The creative director on this has been Orson Scott Card himself, and it’s always a joy to work with him. He is after all my favorite author. It’s a five-issue series. Check it.

Marvel’s Awesome Trailer for Formic Wars

January 20, 2011 By Aaron Johnston

Marvel just put together a trailer for the upcoming Formic War series I’ve been writing with Orson Scott Card. I think the trailer looks pretty amazing. The art in this series has been top notch. First issue releases mid February.

Dragon Age #6 (now available)

December 8, 2010 By Aaron Johnston

The conclusion to the limited series. I know, it brings a tear to my eye, too. But seriously, this has been a thrill to work on. So many talented people have had their hands on this, including Rob Simpson, our editor at EA Comics, quite possibly the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. This one’s for you, Rob.

Thanks to all who’ve been following the series. It’s been a joy. Now hurry to a comic book store. This one’s got zing!

Dragon Age #4 cover released

July 9, 2010 By Aaron Johnston

Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado have done it again. This may be my favorite cover for DA yet. Love the angle. Love the coloring. And I especially like how Humberto has this big menacing templar (Sadatt) wielding this massive sword among these casually falling leaves. Awesome.
